||In efforts to rebuild, revitalize, and spur growth within New Orleans, I say remove the structures at 5500 Paris Ave. and allow Holy Cross School to move forward with the proposed construction. A school with several hundred students living in and commuting through this neighborhood will greatly impact the surrounding communities.
The prolonged uncertainty has surely impacted both the neighborhood redevelopment and the the Holy Cross enrollment. New Orleans can ill afford the denial of this application. The product being blighted buildings on the site, the possible loss of a 150+ year educational institution, and years of sporadic recovery within the community.
No one can ensure instant results by allowing the removal and construction to proceed. All New Orleanians can attest to the past 18 months of stagnated recovery in the Gentilly area. This is as close to no-brainer as they come.
