||Take a minute and compare the proposed Trump Tower project in the CBD with the outcry to save the national landmark-quality SFC church. In the Times-Picayune this morning an article was published on the planned 70-floor tower, to be built on Poydras Street downtown. The developers noted that there has been no public opposition thus far. This is not an accident--as if the city's architects and preservationists were asleep at the wheel. The Trump Tower will be a very positive addition to the city. It has received endorsement from all key groups necessary for the proposed building to become a reality. Why is this so? First, it's site and scale is a good fit with its neighborhood context, and second, it does not require the brazen destruction of a landmark building worthy of placement on the National Register of Historic Buildings. SAVE CABRINI--DO THE RIGHT THING. STRIKE A COMPROMISE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
