City: New Orleans

property
affected:
5500 Paris Ave., N.O. LA 70122: St. Francis Cabrini Chuch and the surrounding neighborhood.
Comments: As a 40+ year resident of Gentilly, I am more interested in the recovery/rebirth of my neighborhood than I am in saving one building, less that 50 years old, no less. If Arthur Davis and the "expert" archictects are so interested in preserving the building, for which Mr. Davis was paid in full, then I suggest that he and others put their money where their mouth is, and fund the restoration/repair of the building, or pay Holy Cross the additional funding or the funding lost from FEMA to "save" the building at the expense of an empty, ruined neighborhood. Give Holy Cross and Gentilly a chance to recover. Those so interested in saving the church building might also consider actually investing in Gentilly, as there are many, many opportunities to invest in the recovery and survival of a wonderful neigborhood - the homes, businesses and schools. Where is the interest and investment in that?
