Name: Cabrini neighbor for 50 years
City: New Orleans, LA
Specific
property
affected:
5500 Paris Ave., 70122
Comments: I recall that Holy Cross' purchase agreement stated that if Cabrini Church is NOT demolished, that they have the option to cancel the sale. Is that still the case? Because if it is, all the emotional & nostalgic feelings that this controversy has stirred up might destroy our neighborhood's ONLY chance of getting a revitalized school & church. How many other entities are willing to risk buying & building in what is now a PROVEN FLOOD ZONE, with faulty government protection. If Holy Cross is willing to take that risk, why are we giving them such a hard time? Welcome to backwards, non-progressive Orleans Parish, HC. Hope you have the strength & perserverance to overcome these misguided Catholics who would rather see their old building rot than move on & see a renaissance of something that the Archdiocese was threatening to close down for years anyway.
Sometimes people can't see their own blessings, & Holy Cross, is the BIGGEST BLESSING that this neighborhood will ever see in our lifetime.
