Comments: Why is FEMA or the government interested in a Church? I thought seperation is what everyone desires. Why then is FEMA meddeling with the rights of the Archdiocese of New Orleans (and for that matter every Catholic in the diocese's) property? The Archdiocese has closed churches and sold it's buildings for years. Always incorporating it's people to other parishes. What is the Archdiocese to do if it is limited by government in the use of its building and property. Does FEMA have the right to control the use of a Church's property? This is a dangerous path FEMA is taking toward restricting religous freedom through zoning. Tear down St. Frances and open Holy Cross! Allow the swap. How this church achieved National Historic Status is questionable. It is just another case of special interest twisting the intent of Preservation for their agenda. The majority seeks change.
Could it be that FEMA dosen't have to pay if the building isn't torn down? This would make more sense than the Historical significance of Cabrini
