affected:
Saint Francis Cabrini Church 5500 Paris Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122
Comments: This Church has historical and architectural significance as an award winning architectural design, and should be restored since it was not structurally damaged by Hurricane Katrina. It could be integrated into a compromised design for the Holy Cross Campus, where it could be used for some other purpose if not the College Preparatory School's Church maybe a perfroming arts center. It has the floor plan of a theatre, which could be one use. There are many other things it could be used for with the large open area that is/was the Church. This was my childhood Parish. The School when originally built also won architectural awards, but it does not have the significance architecturally that the Church has. Unluckily our society has too much of the throw away/disposable mentality that at one time nearly destroyed the French Quarter, and we have lost many other arcitectural gems or architecturally significant buildings in the City; which if it continues New Orleans will look more and more like anywhere USA.
