||I cannot beleive that this has taken so long. Many months ago I listened as active parishiners of St Francis Cabrini parish decided to sell the church property to Holy Cross with the hopes that Holy Cross would bring the necessary revitalization to the area. I also listened to these parishiners tell about how expensive the property was to maintain on a regular basis calling it a "money pit". They hoped that with Holy Cross's relocation to the area that one day their parish would become a vital community once again. I also remember how excited the area residents and the New Orleans community were when Holy Cross decided to remain in Orleans Parish and not relocate to the suburbs.
I realize that we should try to preserve our history unfortunately Hurricane Katrina has destroyed much of our history. Please don't let Holy Cross become another part of New Orleans history that is destroyed by the storm. The longer it takes to settle this matter the closer Holy Cross comes to being another victim of the storm as well as the Gentilly neighborhood that has based a great deal of it's future on Holy Cross's relocation.
