affected:
455, 459, 463 jackson Ave
Comments: My office is up the street from these buildings. They are in structural failure. Homeless have taken up residence in them. They are cooking and heating with open fires in them. Vandals have stolen not only the flooring but the floor joists from the buildings. I attemped to measure these building for possible saving them but they are so unsafe that I could not fully measure them. 455 Jackson is in such bad condition that it is unsafe to enter at all as the building is being supports by the exterior stairs and adjacent building Hurricane Gustave cause the further collapse of one of them in the rear. These building can not be considered as a contributiong element to the district are in structural failure, are a public nuisance and should be demolished. The owner tried to demolish them but the city prevented hin from doing so.
