||I grew up at 1486 Crescent St., one block away for Cabrini Church. I remember when it was built. I have always liked it. It used to be filled to capacity for most of the masses. For a long time it has been in need of repairs and expensive to operate. The church congregation has been greatly reduced for many years. Such a large church, to me is not needed.
I just don't see any tangible historic signifcance. My mother and family was excited when we heard that Holy Cross was going to be moving in. This would mean so much to the recovery of the whole area surrounding this location. We are now waiting to see if FEMA will allow Holy Cross to take down the building. The church is not an icon.
