Comments: Why do we destroy our historic structures? In New Orleans, other than the port, tourism is the economic driver of this city. When we destroy our history we destroy what makes New Orleans one of the most unique cities in the US. An entire city block in the French Quarter was torn down to build the Supreme Court, Louis Armstrong's house was demolished, Sidney Bechet's house, gone.. a large tract of Treme was torn up to build the expressway and on and on. I won't even mention what happened to Mid City this year. I strongly object to this action.
