Comments: I would like to know why FEMA funding is needed to demolish the sexton cottages. Were they actually damaged by Hurricanes Katrina/Rita? I remember them being in disrepair before the storms, and they are certainly in bad shape now. If the city cannot keep them in good and safe condition, I don't see any need for them to be kept. I certainly don't want my tax dollars supporting unnecessary demolitions, but I also don't want to pay for restoring buildings that will receive no city support or funding. If preservationists can come up with a way to fund the upkeep and find a use for them, then I might change my view.
