Comments: Education is the most important thing Tulane does, and part of that mission includes a library that needs expansion. But, does it make sense to permanently destroy two historic buildings in a historic neighborhood?NO, of course not. I am always puzzled by the fact that Tulane has one of the finest Preservation Programs in the country, but it doesn't use that resource to vette its actions when it comes to destroying historic properties or harming neighborhoods. Yes it does have the right to do as it pleases, but that doesn't make it appropriate. It would be less sour if Tulane had a use for the land AFTER construction other than parking. Lastly, I have never understood how FEMA can approve and pay for destruction of historic fabric under the guise of a 106Review.
