Comments: I am writing this letter in favor of the Holy Cross move to and construction in Gentilly. I do not feel that they should be forced to preserve Cabrini church. This is a make or break deal for that neighborhood. If the neighborhood dies, then who is the church being preserved for? Holy Cross is offering a real chance to preserve a community, not just one single building. That's big and it's necessary. Haven't my hometown and the neighborhood I grew up in been through enough? Please don't stand in the way of New Orleanians rebuilding New Orleans. I thought historic preservation was ultimately supposed to be for the betterment of the community. In this neighborhood and particularly in these circumstances, preservation of Cabrini church is clearly not a better investment than Holy Cross is. Please look beyond the building at the neighborhood and the people.
