City: New Orleans, LA
Specific
property
affected:
St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church
Comments: While it is amazing that anyone would consider this building to be of historical significance, that is not the point. The rebuilding of New Orleans and this Gentilly neighborhood should be paramount on everyones radar screen. Allowing an institution with a true historical value of educating young men in the city of New Orleans will be a driving force for the rebuilding of the area. One only has to look to the city of Kenner, a community not nearly as devastated as New Orleans, and wonder why they worked so hard to pave the way to have Holy Cross relocate in their community. It's because the city leaders realized just what an asset Holy Cross would be to their community. The real tragedy would be to fail to get Holy Cross relocated to the St. Francis site.
