||The Catholic Church likes to have Catholic Churches, so they must have a good reason to demolish Cabrini. The parishoneers support it. The area supports it. (Catholic School) Holy Cross not only supports it, it needs the space. As a graduate of De La Salle, I know first hand the value these Catholic schools provide to the area. It would be tragic if we lose Holy Cross to the suburbs.
Who is opposing this move? One must question the agenda of those who oppose the demolition. With very little exception, everyone associated with the Catholic Church, North Gentilly area, Cabrini Parish, and Holy Cross supports this demolition. We have tolorated too much foolishness and delay as it is. Move forward NOW and allow Holy Cross to build a needed campus for their students and help North Gentilly boost their recovery with this school's couragious committment to Orleans Parish. Remove the barriers TODAY before we lose Holy Cross to the 'burbs (like everything else!) and we retain a flooded and delapadated compound that will be demolished anyway. Afterall, if the Catholic Church wants to demolish it, who is going to pay to rebuild this so-called architectural treasure?
