St. Francis Cabrini Church 5500 Paris Avenue
Comments: As a mother of a Holy Cross student, I am in favor of Holy Cross moving their site to the Gentilly site of St Francis Xavier Cabrini. I am saddened by the loss of the Cabrini school and church, our city must move forward with the re-building our communities. Holy Cross has much to offer to this area of the city just as Mount Carmel's re-opening brought much needed utilities to its area to help residents surrounding their campus re-build. Holy Cross continues to provide a wonderful atmosphere of family, in spite of the obstacles they overcome daily post-Katrina. The Holy Cross traditions were strong pre-Katrina and still have a large place in the hearts of many graduates and former students. This is shown by their dedication to continue educating young men in Baton Rouge, on Cabrini High School campus and now in trailers on their 9th ward campus. The quality education and strong values instilled in the Holy Cross men can be witnessed in many of the graduates who have accomplished so much. Many of these Holy Cross men are still in the metropilitan area and continue to give back to this great city. Holy Cross gave much to the 9th ward area. I am confident, they have much to give to this Gentilly neighborhood! Please let Holy Cross move to this Gentilly area and continue their legacy of tradition and excellence.
