||After reading everything about this controversy, we don't understand why this has to be an all or nothing proposition. Why can't the church be preserved, repaired and incorporated into the plans for the new Holy Cross School? What most of the "tear-it-down-and-to-hell-with-any-architectual-significance" group seems to choose to ignore is the fact that once torn down, the building is gone FOREVER! And there are many, many buildings all around this country which have been torn down only to have people later lament those decisions. Case in point: allowing the destruction of the original Dominican High School to allow the building of the Ponchartrain Expressway.
