St. Frances Cabrini Church
Comments: Save Cabrini Church. It is a significant architectural modern masterpiece. This was so evident when I saw a photo in the Clarion Herald taken as flood waters were still 8 feet deep in Gentilly. I was amazed at the beautiful spire that shot out of the the blanket of destruction. It was hopefully inspiring that I could identify that this was Gentilly because of the presence of this magnificent landmark. It survived, as so much didn't. I was surprised that the Archdiocese did not allowed the church to be opened and cleaned by the parishioners to start it resurrection and redevelopment of the neighborhood. I question the motives of why so early on this church was locked from the people that supported it. Other catholic churches were encouraged to come back to life. I look forward to attending mass again there. Coexistence is the answer.
