Alternate ROOTS
A Southeastern community arts organization seeking allies, and providing support to affected communities as they begin the process of healing and rebuilding after the hurricanes.

American Association for State and Local History
Developing database to centrallize offers of goods, services & space for recovery efforts for all types of museums. Also provides Emergency Assessment Recovery units to LA & MS to provide assessments of collections damage, take photos, & offer info on interim stabilization procedures.

American Association of Museums
Provides links to resources pertinent to museum hurricane relief efforts, and general recovery information.

American Institute for Conservation
Over 120 conservators willing to help museums, libraries, archives & other cultural institutions. matching experienced volunteer conservators to needs of specific sites; coordinating donations for travel, lodging & purchase of supplies.

Americans for the Arts
Support to Local Arts Agencies Affected by Disasters to rebuild the arts in their community.

Americans for the Arts Emergency Relief Fund
Funds will be used to provide assistance to local arts service organizations located in or serving those areas most affected by hurricane damage to help them rebuild the arts in their communities.

Brief Guide to Understanding Repairs to Historic Homes
An illustrated guide to help owners of historic homes assess damage and plan repairs to flood and storm damaged properties. The guide contains practical information on repair techniques, sources for materials for historic homes and resources for further reading and contacts.

Bring New Orleans Back Commission
Mayor Nagin's commission to plan the recovery of the city of New Olreans, targeting Education, Infrastructure, Economic Development, Culture, Health and Social Services, Planning, and Government.

Emergency Management Assistance Compact
A congressionally ratified organization that provides form and structure to interstate mutual aid. Through EMAC, a disaster impacted state can request and receive assistance from other member states quickly and efficiently, resolving two key issues upfront: liability and reimbursement.

From the Lake to the River
The Coalition serves as a contact point and clearinghouse for legal information designed to assist Hurricane Katrina victims (wherever they may be located). In addition, we serve as a watchdog and oversight group to ensure that public and private resources are distributed on an equitable basis.

Hurricane Relief Fund of Acadiana
Established to receive and manage funds for the benefit of displaced southwestern Louisianans. 99% of funds will go to projects and organizations who are working to assist those in need.

In the Wake of the Hurricanes Research Coalition
Aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita documentation effort to provide a framework for comparing data collected from independently funded projects. The coalition provides basic questions and a form for collecting the same demographic information, allowing comparison of stories and other information gathered by many interviewers.

KARES (Katrina Arts Relief and Emergency Support)
In addition to the monies so far awarded and activities initiated, and more to come in the near future, KARES right now has two $250 grants we would like to award to two writers who have been affected by Katrina, writers we may not be aware of. If you could use one of these grants, please let us know. Keep it simple. Include your name, address, phone number, how Katrina and/or the subsequent flooding has affected you, and what you would use the money for. Include a note about your craft and a brief list of publications if applicable. One page maximum. Deadline is January 23.

Louisiana Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness
Leads, coordinates, and supports the Louisiana emergency management system, in order to protect lives and prevent the loss of property from all hazards; and ensures that the State is prepared to respond to, and recover from, all natural and man-made emergencies.

Louisiana Rebirth Scorecard
Reporting the progress toward meeting short and long-term goals of the Louisiana Rebirth Plan of the Office of the Lt. governor and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

Storm Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Recovery Guide for Homeowners, Cleaning Flood Damaged Homes, etc.

National Center for Preservation Technology & Training
Offers hurricane preservation technical assistance and guidance to those in charge of preserving the cultural resources of the Gulf Coast region. At the invitation of FEMA, two NCPTT staff members are to be embedded in the Joint Field Office (JFO) preservation task force.

National Endowment for the Arts
Developing recovery program for arts community & needs basic info about impact of storm on all kinds of arts-related things.

Neighborhood Revitalization
A national initiative funded by the Ford Foundation and managed by Partners for Livable Communities. This initiative is part of a movement that recognizes neighborhood based arts & cultural organizations as unique stakeholders in poor neighborhoods experiencing economic and demographic shifts

People's Hurricane Fund
Aims to make a concrete contribution to advancing the Katrina Reconstruction and Justice movement during this new phase of political struggle by launching a programmatic counteroffensive, grounded in three fronts of struggle: reconstruction, institution building, and movement building.

Preservation Trades Network
The Preservation Trades Network (PTN) is a non-profit 501(c)3 membership organization incorporated as an education, networking, and outreach organization. PTN is founded on the principle that conservation of the built environment is fundamentally dependent on the quality, availability, and viability of the skilled trades. We believe that opportunities for education, employment, and compensation of people skilled in the traditional trades are directly reflected in the quality of the built environment, and the effective stewardship of cultural heritage.

Road Home Program
The largest single housing recovery program in U.S. history – was developed by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to help our residents get back into a home or apartment as quickly and fairly as possible. The Road Home program is currently taking applications. It does not cost anything to apply. Eligible homeowners affected by Hurricane Rita or Katrina may receive up to $150,000 in compensation for losses to get back into their homes.
