The Atchafalaya Heritage Area has been designated by Congress as a National Heritage Area.
In this unit students will be introduced to Huey P. Long . Students will research internet and text resources to gather biographical information about Huey Long and will create a Huey Long Biography card. Students will create a Huey Long RAFT writing speech. Students will investigate the Long assassination in order to write a newspaper article that states the student’s point of view about the Long assassination. Students will compare the programs of President Franklin Roosevelt and Louisiana Senator Huey Long concerning how best to deal with the economic disaster of the Great Depression. Also, students will investigate the song, Every Man a King.
