Baton Rouge, LA -- Lt. The Lt. Governor will also speak at the post-Rita opening of the Cameron Parish Library system. At 1:00 p.m., the Lt. Governor will visit Ralph Wilson Elementary School to introduce Peruvian jazz musician and composer Gabriel Alegria. Mr. Alegria's performance is funded by a grant from the Lt. Governor's Cultural Economy Foundation to the Banner Series, the presenting arm of McNeese State University in Lake Charles. McNeese worked with the Peruvian Embassy to bring Mr. Alegria to Lake Charles. In August, the Lt. Governor's World Cultural Economy Forum -- a statewide series of seminars and cultural performances, will bring more performers to the area.
At 3:00 p.m., the Lt. Governor will travel to Cameron Parish for the opening of temporary State Library facilities. The temporary facillity was funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
