Lt. Gov. Landrieu Pushes BILL to Lift Cap on Tourism Funding, Launches Redesigned LouisianaTravel.com and E-Market
State Tourism Leaders Descend on Capitol for "Tourism Awareness Day"
Baton Rouge, LA -- On Tourism Awareness Day at the Capitol, Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu and tourism leaders from across the state will promote legislation to lift the cap on tourism funding. The legislation (HB 270), proposed by Representative John Alario, would remove the limitation or "cap" on the amount of funds from sales and use tax currently dedicated to tourism promotion and other specified purposes, increasing monies for tourism advertising and other marketing efforts to promote Louisiana tourism.
Landrieu and state tourism officials will also launch a re-designed web site along with a Louisiana e-market. LouisianaTravel.com is the main Web site for visitors to gather information about the state's extensive tourism industry. The Louisiana eMarket is a new e-commerce area on the site that allows visitors to order Louisiana products.
