LT. GOVERNOR LANDRIEU TO ANNOUNCE LAKE CHARLES CULTURAL DISTRICT
WHAT: Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu will announce the creation of a Cultural District in Lake Charles

BACKGROUND: Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu and Mayor Randy Roach are scheduled to announce the creation of Lake Charles's first Cultural District Wednesday, March 11th at 2:00 pm.
The Cultural Districts program was created in 2007 to promote economic growth and community revitalization. The program builds partnerships among artists, business owners, and local and state government. The two primary incentives for communities to participate are:
Renovations to historic structures within the district may be eligible for state historic preservation tax credits, and Sales of original, one-of-a-kind works of art within the district are exempt from local and state sales tax.
