GOV. BLANCO, LT. GOV. LANDRIEU, MAYOR NAGIN UPDATE ON PROGRESS AND PRIORITIES OF TOURISM INDUSTRY
New Orleans Hospitality Coalition Unified and Guided by Strategic Plan
WHAT: Governor Kathleen Blanco and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin join Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu to provide a status report on the recovery of the vital tourism industry. The New Orleans Hospitality Coalition will be in attendance.

WHY: On behalf of the tourism industry, Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu is working with Governor Blanco, Mayor Nagin and Vice Admiral Thad Allen of FEMA on the industry's immediate priorities. These priorities include housing of hospitality workers, clean-up and debris removal, uniform hotel tax policy by FEMA, and cruise ship usage.
The New Orleans Hospitality Coalition includes leaders from the Port of New Orleans, the Hotel Motel Association, the Louisiana Restaurant Association, the Louis Armstrong International Airport, the New Orleans Marketing Corporation, the New Orleans Metropolitan Visitors and Convention Bureau, and the Morial Convention Center.
The tourism and hospitality industries of Louisiana are unified and our work is guided by a strategic plan - Louisiana Rebirth: Restoring the Soul of America. Restoring tourism, the state's second largest industry, is key to Louisiana's economic recovery.
