PARK CONDITIONS FOLLOWING HURRICANE GUSTAV

All parks north of Alexandria, as well as Sam Houston Jones State Park near Lake Charles and South Toledo Bend State Park near Anacoco, are open and operating as usual. The current status of State Parks impacted by Hurricane Gustav is as follows

Audubon State Historic Site, St. FrancisvilleClosed due to power outage and site cleanup. No damage to Oakley House reported.
Bayou Segnette State Park, WestwegoClosed due to power outage and high water in low-lying areas of the park.
Centenary State Historic Site, JacksonClosed due to power outage and site cleanup.
Chicot State Park and Louisiana State Arboretum, Ville PlatteClosed due to power outage and site cleanup. Some roads at Chicot SP are blocked due to downed trees.
Cypremort Point State Park, Cypremort PointClosed due to power outage; site damage still under assessment.
Fairview-Riverside State Park, MadisonvilleClosed due to partial power outage and site cleanup. Otis House received only minimal wind damage.
Fontainebleau State Park, MandevilleClosed due to partial power outage and site cleanup.
Fort Pike State Historic Site, New OrleansClosed due to power outage and high water in and around the Fort.
Grand Isle State Park, Grand IsleClosed due to power outage and water damage to entrance station. Levee breaches caused sand to be pushed into the park, blocking roads.
Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, St. MartinvilleClosed due to power outage and site cleanup.
Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site, St. MartinvilleOpen, but visitors are cautioned that site cleanup is still in progress.
Marksville State Historic Site, MarksvilleOpen, but visitors are cautioned that tree cleanup is still in progress. Phone service has not yet been restored to this site.
Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site, PlaquemineOpen, but visitors are cautioned that tree cleanup is still in progress.
Port Hudson State Historic Site, JacksonClosed due to power outage and site cleanup.
Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, St. FrancisvilleClosed due to power outage and site cleanup. The historic gardens received major damage and the plantation greenhouse was destroyed.
St. Bernard State Park, BraithewaiteClosed due to power outage and site cleanup.
Tickfaw State Park, SpringfieldClosed due to power outage and high water from the Tickfaw River.

Due to the size of the individual site and the amount of damage/downed trees, site cleanup times will vary. Updates will be posted, as new information becomes available.
