Saturday, January 17 75th Anniversary Kick-off
Longfellow-Evangeline SHS, St. Martinville
One of the original sites in the Louisiana State Parks system, this historic site highlights the "uniquely Louisianan" experience of the Creoles and Acadians who settled near Bayou Teche. Come out and start off our year-long celebrations with living history, visiting dignitaries and more!

Lake Bistineau State Park, Doyline
One of the many parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and 40s, this day will recognize the hard work of the Corps members and celebrate how far we've been able to come with such a great foundation.

Chicot State Park, Ville Platte
Probably the largest Civilian Conservation Corps project within the Louisiana State Parks system, celebrations will include a look back at the development of the park over the past several decades.

Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville
Continuing the month-long recognition of the work of the Civiilian Conservation Corps, Fontainebleau SP will highlight the numerous changes that have occured at the park over the years.

Nestled away in the woods of north Louisiana, this park has always been a retreat from the hustle and bustle. Join us in appreciation of the CCC's development of Chemin-A-Haut SP.

Plaquemine Lock SHS, Plaquemine
Although no longer operational, the Lock in Plaquemine still stands as a symbol of the importance of navigating the waterways of south Louisiana. Festivities will recognize former employees, and family members of former employees, of the Lock, as they share entertaining tales of life on the waterways.

Teachers are encouraged to bring their classes for a special field trip, to help celebrate this milestone and to learn about the nautical and maritime culture of south Louisiana.

Tickfaw State Park, Springfield
Come out and enjoy a good time, south Louisiana-style with good music and good food...and get 'wild' with the native animals found in the area!

Free entrance for all our visitors - Experience Louisiana State Parks during our statewide anniversary bash! Activities will be as varied and exciting as each one of our parks -- check to see what's going on in your area. Enjoy the Department of Wildlife & Fisheries' Free Fishing Weekend, with special fishing clinics at Chicot SP, Fontainebleau SP, Lake Claiborne SP, Poverty Point Reservoir SP and Sam Houston Jones SP.

Hodges Gardens State Park, Florien
Celebrate one of the country's most impressive private gardens, opened to the public by oil and gas businessman A.J. Hodges Sr., the site's gardens consist of a variety of plants and flowers, from a formal rose garden to a collection of Japanese Red Maple trees.
Monday, September 28Commemoration of the State Parks Commission Established
Fort Pike SHS, New Orleans
On this day, we will recognize the official establishment of the State Parks Commission in 1934. As the oldest site in the system Fort Pike SHS will appropriately serve as the setting for this occasion.
Friday, October 2New Deal Archaeology and Louisiana State Parks
Marksville SHS, Marksville
Learn how the federal program instituted during the FDR administration brought not only jobs, but important cultural and historical knowledge, to the state. This annual event is conducted in cooperation with the Department of Archaeology and always delivers intriguing information about the original inhabitants of the area.
