Fontainebleau State Park |
"It was in the summer of 1971, and I was 16 years old at the time.I lived at the Southeast LA state hospital then and I went with some other teenage boys, including my friend Edgar Foster. Although I never learned how to swim, I had a wonderful time playing in the shallow water of the local lake and the beach. I'm almost 55 years old now, but that was lots of fun that I'll never forget!" |

Chicot State Park |
"We moved to Lafayette, LA in 2008, when my husband took a promotion with his employeer. We have alway's taken our family camping and when we saw how may outdoor activities Louisiana had to off we were extatic. Our favorite is state parks, as they have so much to offer at a very resonable price. With economics as they are today spending time with your family doesnt need to cost an arm and a leg.
"We love camping at Chicot State Park, I think it is our favorite as we tend to go there alot. It is very close to home, offer's everything, camping , swimming, hiking, boat rentals, and a ton of area to explore, plus fishing. The park is clean, up to date and we are excited for them to finish their wireless internet install."
"The state campground in Louisiana are absolutly awesome, coming from Arizona, they have so much to offer and are so well cared for. Thank You State of Louisiana for giving my family and I many placed to choose from, with a variety of state parks at a very reasonable price to enjoy our family time in the great outdoors." |

"My uncle; my mother's brother was a part maintenance person at Chicot State Park about 50 or 60 years ago. His name is Ernest Brignac. He and his family lived in the park and we visited them frequently. There were zoo like animals in cages and he was responsible for the care of those animals. He also lived right at the lake there; he rented fishing boats and sold bait. Their residence was on the second floor of that building. We will be there on Sept. 8th for several days and I am so looking forward to this." |

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park |
"I tent-camped at Lake Fausse Point in May 2009 after arriving in New Iberia and learning that the B&B's were full. And I'm glad I did - the mountain biking trails were excellent and led to some of the nicest backcountry campsites that I've seen!"
"After conversing with some friendly local campers and the park's knowledgeable biologist, I headed back towards town and ate lunch at a fantastic restaurant (I think it was Teche Cafe in Loreauville). A great experience from start to finish!!" |
