In early 2019, the National Park Service (NPS) awarded the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation (DHP) $1,013,757 to assist historic resources affected by Hurricane Harvey in nine parishes throughout the state. The grant funds will be used conduct historic building surveys of resources at least 50 years old in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, St. Charles and Vernon parishes. The grant funds are also available to the owners of historic properties to repair damages sustained during Hurricane Harvey and to cover the costs associated with producing National Register nominations within these parishes.
